Fans getting noisy.

Hey guys just noticed for some time now when i am playing games like nba 2k16 high settings my case fans are getting a little bit loud and i can really hear them but when i'm just surfing the net and not doing anything heavy it stays quiet. BTW my fans are just the default fans from my NZXT H440.

Have you tried lowering fan speeds?

I think i haven't. I really don't know how to change the fan speeds.

If they are PWM fans you may be able to control them with software, e.g. speedfan.

If they are standard fans, you may want to invest in a fan controller, you just plug the fans into it, and it will have knobs/sliders to adjust fan speeds.

I'm not really sure what kind of fans they are. It's just the default case fans from my h440.

The CPU fan is almost always controllable.

Are the case fans plugs directly into the motherboard or somewhere else?

Had to Google to see what you were talking about, these aren't standard :)

One of the cables coming out of said hub must be plugged into the motherboard, or a power cable, to power all the fans connected to it.

To control the fans, you'd take the cables out of that hub, and plug them into a fan controller.

(e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Channel-Pin-Connector-Blue-Controller/dp/B006Z8LB6S/)

Oh i see so i still need to get a fan controller to properly managed the speed of my fans right?

Assuming you can't control them from software already (have you tried this yet?), then yes you'd need to get a fan controller.

I haven't tried yet even in the bios i haven't checked yet if i can change the speeds trough bios. What software would you recommend?

I mentioned SpeedFan earlier on as it's free and lightweight, though there's a plethora of programs that can do it.

Okay thanks i'll try downloading that.

The fan hub just powers the fans and don't provide control over them. Try connecting the fans to motherboard headers instead and looking through the bios for fan settings.

That hub thing were the fans are connected to is just powered by 12V so your case fans are running full speed all the time. You say that the PC is noisy when gaming and not when Idleing, which means the noise comes from your GPU or CPU fans. I see you use the stock intel cooler, my guess is that's the culprit!

You can leave the panel of and turn of the case fans completely by unplugging all of them. Game for a few minutes and this way you'll know ;)

oh i see i'll try doing that too. Just noticed tho it doesn't become that noisy if the gpu temps don't go above 70 degrees celsius.
