Do I need 3 way SLI 980 Ti or are 2 980 Ti's enough

2 980tis should be enough to run most games in that resolution at 60fps..  If they are optimized some what decent. Not sure you will be able to get 144 stable with even 3 980tis unless you dump the settings . 

 

I run 2 titan x and  Swift surround set my self but never actually did extensive  testning in surround. If you can wait a couple of weeks i can do some benchmarks on select titles.

I was thinking 2 980 Ti's and 2 AOC Ultrawides or 1 AOC Ultrawide with side monitors
