I started my kids rig off as an A6-6400K, and while it's not horrible, it does choke on Minecraft a bit.  It's fine as long as you keep resolution down.  I do agree that an SSD is a better choice, and 8GB of ram would be more than enough.  Are they planning to overclock? Are they near a Microcenter?

Get less RAM and a cheaper cooler for a better APU/CPU.

Get a skylake i3 since its integrated graphic finally perfroms around AMD APU range with better CPU IPC.

and google a bit for a cheaper license key( I found them for about 30 dollars, but thats on dutch websites.)

edit: don't forget the gpu --> 750ti

That SSD had its controller replaced and is now slow (just google it). Get another one.

That CPU isn't a good option, drop the cooler and you will be able to get a better one (you can't overclock it so why get it?)

That power supply isn't good get at least a 430 CX/430B.

Great, thanks. I will be doing this but the only change is that I will use a ASRock H170A-X1 since he wanted an atx motherboard.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I understand 8 GB of RAM but i don't understand why you don't have a GPU

And there's no need for a CPU cooler, just use the stock cooler.

And for CPU go something with Pentium 20th Anniversary G3258.

Minecraft doesn't need a gpu

Correct, i3-6100 does still come with coller in the box so you won't need an new one.

I would go pentium as well and just get a hyper 212 and overclock to the max :)

How much better do you think the pentium would do vs the i3?

The i3 will do better, thats a fact, but it's a bit more money. After looking a bit more into it I would rather just stick to i3. The performance you get for your money is worth it I think.
