The i3 will do better, thats a fact, but it's a bit more money. After looking a bit more into it I would rather just stick to i3. The performance you get for your money is worth it I think.

What I think I wil do, is go with a haswell i3 or i5 for the speed but not the sky lake price

I think you're a bit late for that. A few months ago (2) it would be cheaper, but now when prices are getting higher for haswell you'll get more for your money if you go skylake.

These cpu's are the same price now but the skylake one is just better, a lot better. The ram will be more expensive, okay, but that's just a little and ddr4 is better than ddr3 so you will also get more.

I was not going i5 because Minecraft won't improve that much and to keep prices down

don't you need a cpu-cooler?

Yes, i was going with a cooler master hyper 212 evo.

You can use the stock cooler, sufficient for stock operation.

He plans on upgrading soon right?

Minecraft doesn't need a gpu

Correct, i3-6100 does still come with coller in the box so you won't need an new one.

I would go pentium as well and just get a hyper 212 and overclock to the max :)

Yeah but he wants lagless experience, even I with a card had issues with the game so idk if no GPU is good for it(?)

Mojang says it would be best to use an i3 AND a gpu, but a gpu can be added later, so just dail the renderdistance back a bit.

Stock cooler is still included (found it out yesterday, forgot to repley) so that will indeed be enough.
