Hi guys.

I'm going to build a new pc in a couple of weeks and I've decided on all the parts except for the MoBo.

I'll give you the part list just so you can give me a better idea on what MoBo to buy.

CPU: i74770K

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Classy

RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz, CL9

Cooler: Corsair H100i

Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 1

PSU: Seasonic 650KM3, it's 650W Gold Efficiency

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb

HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Black

So far I've been thinking about the the MSI GD65, but recently I've set my eyes on the Asus z87 PRO, well colorwise it's terrible but it's Asus, and I won't buy a windowed case so it doesn't really matter what it looks like.

Basically I want something in these two cards' pricerange. Any good tips?

Both are great motherboards and performance will not be affected depending on which board you choose. Go with whatever would suit your build the most.

I'd go with Asus because it has more USB 3.0 ports(Internal and external), more SATA 3 6Gb/s ports and it has built in wi-fi and bluetooth.

CPU: i5 4670K, Mobo: Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H, RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB, GPU: Asus 280X, Case: Fractal Design XLR2, SSD: 840 evo 120GB, HDD: 2x 1TB Seagate, PSU: Corsair RM750, Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo

I've decided to go with the Maximus VI Hero :) I think it's the best board in its pricerange

You could go with the cheapest z87 mobo and it wouldn't make any significant difference other than you would save a substantial amount of money.

Also, your build could be cheaper without really losing any performance.

What's the system being used for?

editing/programing/gaming at about 35/35/30 ratio :)

won't make a bit of difference on apps used for the motherboard selection. that's

what is needed for CPU decision.

motherboard questions are:

CPU - overclocking or not

GPU - how many

USB - how many ports needed

iGPU - what i/o is needed for connection, useless for a dedicated GPU unless until

emergency of death of GPU.

WiFi - needed or not

LAN - one or two ports Intel, Killer NIC, or RealTek

SATA - how many SATA III ports needed

color - prolly the most important for build strategy

airdeano

CPU - Overclocking, if not I wouldn't pick a K processor and a Corsair H100i

GPU - Well for now one Evga 780 Classy, later i might add a 2nd one

USB - Well usually any MoBo+case ports should be enough

iGPU - in case of emergency any port will suffice, except Display Port. My monitor doesn't have one

WiFi - Cable is better

LAN - All these new LAN thingies perform basicly the same. So any of them is ok, 1 port is enough.

SATA - For now I'll need 4 but that is going to change soon

Color - Don't rly care, won't be getting a windowed case. Tho the ROG Hero looks ubernice

I would get the Asus Z87-A/ MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming/ Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H. Personally like the Asus one because of its features and its UEFI Bios UI.
