It's the first computer that I have built, and I fear that I may have a problem. Here are the specs (if you need them):

Intel Core i5-6500

Kingston HyperX Fury Black (2x4GB) DDR4-2133

Gigabyte Z170-D3H

WD Blue 1TB

XFX XTR750

Fractal Design Define R4

ASUS R9 390 (not yet added)

When I booted up the computer for the first time, it did not even display the Gigabyte Logo and just straight away showed the message: Reboot and Select proper Boot device, or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.

The next day, I looked for solutions to solve this problem; I tried switching the SATA Cable; this time, the Gigabyte Logo is displayed on the screen but the message still appears.

I have read articles on the internet for explanations on this issue, and most articles said that the Hard Drive has a problem. I have tried going into the motherboard BIOS by pressing the "F12" key, and it redirects me to the message again, saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device, or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key."

Everything seems to be working fine, with the motherboard lighting up, CPU fan running, Power Supply working and Hard Drive spinning - everything seems normal.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem?

Help will very much be appreciated.

If this is a new build and you have not installed windows yet then its a easy fix.

It just means the HDD you are trying to boot from has no OS or the MBR is not present.

Delete key to get into bios and select what you want to boot to or F12 while the PC is booting to select the OS installation media.

Try the "delete" key, not on every motherboard it's f12 for the bios. On mine, for example, f12 summons the boot menu. The motherboard's manual should specify which button it is.

The problem is that the drive does not have an operating system on it (obviously, since you haven't installed it yet). If you have the installation media for an OS (pendrive or disc) and you turn the computer on with that in it it should automatically recognize it and boot from there.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
