Ok so I am doing a budget build for my friend. The budget is about 600 dollars but he cannot go over at all. The lower cost, the better. He does not need any peripherals or a monitor, but he does need an OS. I came up with a build myself, but I know that often you guys can give suggestions and make up builds better than what I can do.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/h7Csqs

This is what I came up with. I wanted a 4 gb GPU since many games now utilize more than 2 gb. However, it is a little over budget, since if you add in the 35 bucks for OS from Reddit it costs around 615 bucks. I wanted to see you guys' suggestions on how to lower the price as well as how to just make it better.

Thanks!

As @Alexokan said you can get Windows by being an insider and yes that is a Quad-Core to prevent your CPU bottlenecking the GPU.

Kind of bad PSU. I don't think 212 Evo are necessary because you can't overclocking unless you are aiming for silent builds. The build is quiet will. Other that you did pass the budget. " The budget is about 600 dollars but he cannot go over at all. "

CPU cooler - why?

$70 case in a budget build, why?

Between those two things you can have 8gb more ram or a SSD.

Also guys I just noticed that the i5 2500k is only around 120 bucks on ebay, and you can get a z77 motherboard for about 50-70 dollars. Is that worth it? It seems like a great deal especially if you then strip a 212 evo on there but is it safe to go with used hardware?

Seems like a purty good deal.

Ok I figured out how Windows Insider works. I will ask him if he is fine with that.

I made up this part list http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GmJvTW with you guys' suggestions. I want a 4 ram slot mobo so that it is easy to upgrade to 16 in the future. However it is a little overbudget so if there is no way to cut down the price I can cut it to a 2 dimm slot mobo.

I know it was overkill but all the other power supplies weren't the best quality. Corsair CX psus aren't the best quality, so I usually prefer Silverstone, XFX, or EVGA. I don't like Corsair PSUs unless it is one of their higher end ones (such as the rmi psus)
