I have found a typical problem of some Linux distros when using the HDMI output is it not set up with audio.

But I am not running on a typical system.

Problem:  No audio through HDMI with Linux Ubuntu 14.04 or Linux Mint Cinnamon on a Kangaroo Mobile Desktop.

Audio works with Windows 10.  I have looked up all the typical solutions out there.

The only youtube video out there is here.  He mentions there is no audio, but doesn't say how he fixed it.

Specs on the Kangaroo:  Intel Atom x5-Z8500 1.44 GHz, up to 2.24 GHz

                                        Intel HD Graphics

It only has USB 2.0, USB 3.0, HDMI, and a DC power port. So not many options.

I don't know where to look for drivers,  I have tried the typical solutions for Linux distros with this same problem.  I don't know if this form factor changes anything.

Other thoughts:  The Kangaroo looked interesting and for only $100 to mess around with different Linux distros.

I've already made a images of Windows with Clonezilla, installed Mint, Ubuntu, and now have restored the Windows image; in one weekend, never having done anything like this before.  It's fun.

Usually you need to install a specific driver to allow HDMI audio passthrough.

This may involve installing a proprietary AMD/nVidia GPU driver which are typically discouraged in Linux distributions as they are not 'Free as in Freedom' software covered by the GNU license, and rather are closed source (and as such may not be installed by default).

Almost as cool as my temps
