I've had this problem ever since i built my PC. the headphoe jack on the case wont work and sound will come through my monitor, as it has speakers. The problem here is, I want to buy some nice speakers but I just cant get the rear colored headphone jacks to work either. and that is stopping me from buying speakers. and when I do try to plug in some speakers I have, no luck. their lights turn on but no sound comes through. there is a headphone jack on my monitor, but that wont work, because I need several plug ins for the speaker to work, as my monitor only has one. Thank you for your help!

In Playback devices it will let you select which device you want to output from.

should the back work no matter what?

If they are defaulted as the output in the playback options yes. If they don't work make sure the audio drivers for the motherboard are installed.

EDIT: Didn't mean to post yet >.>

Set the default audio device to your audio jack rather than your HDMI port.

I have no option to enable them. it says not plugged in and it just shows that my monitors speakers are ready... this is really bothering me now! https://gyazo.com/47a5abc875de437d061794ec7542e27c

Default it to the speakers icon option on the bottom that should output through the rear jack automatically right now your going through your GPU to the monitor for sound.

Do you have a pair of headphone or speakers you can plug into the rear ports it should let you select the last option in that photo as the default output option. Either that try disabling the current output to then try to select the last one in he photo.
