Just did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on my new SSD about a week ago, now whenever I drag and drop on my desktop, it starts to black out my background in the square that I dragged. Not sure why. I've made sure I downloaded the my graphic drivers, and I did an SFC scan and it said I had no corrupt Windows files.

Not sure what to do. My PC works fine it's just annoying that it's blacking out my nice Minnesota Wild desktop background lol. If you could help me that would be great :)

I'm not being sarcastic here, but you should probably just upgrade to Windows 10. I've had so many issues with Windows 8's "Desktop App." It's a nightmare in and of itself, and I went back to 7 a mere day after I installed 8. Then I went from 7 to 10 this past year, and haven't looked back. Plus the upgrade is free and should take you under an hour.

Yeah, I never quite understood the people who've been sticking on 8.1... it reminds me of the XP/Vista/7 days.  XP was great for everyone, most people didn't like Vista, but then 7 was great again, yet strikingly similar to Vista, so those on XP who didn't want to make the jump stayed, but everyone on Vista (pretty much) upgraded, because, why not?  This time, 7 is XP, 8.1 is Vista, and 10 is 7 :D

Or am I missing a secret reason we 7/10 users don't know about...?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

^ Bad opinions aside..

Windows 8.1 works perfectly fine for me. I know the problem you're having because I've gotten it before on other Windows installations and the way I was usually able to fix it was created a recovery disk and letting it try to repair Windows. Other than that, maybe CCleaner?
