It is a 120Gb and it is being recognized as a 500mb drive. I have it set as my D drive but it still shows 500Mb

Could you post a screenshot of it? Chances are that you just needs to extend the volume to be the full 120GB (or 110GB as Windows says).

So I was running out of SSD storage for all of my programs and I wanted to add some more storage so I added a Samsung 850 Evo 120Gb and on the boot up screen it shows me the connected drives and it does indeed show the Evo but once booted into windows it is not detected.

Have you assigned the drive a driver letter? Just go into Disk Management, format the drive and assign it a letter.

Rigt click ´Start´ → Select ´Disk Management´ → Create a simple volume → Follow the steps from there.

and where is disk management?

Yeah, forgot to write that in. I edited the post for that.

If you can't do that just right click ´This PC´, chose ´Manage´ and click on ´Disk Manager´. Then you just right click the new drive and create a simple volume.
