So I'm building my first pc right now; however I think I might have dug myself into a hole.

I have 3000Mhz ram installed on my board, however the highest the manual goes up to is 2800MHz

I know the board can overclock ram, however It's not sending a signal to the screen right now, so until I fix that problem,

does anyone know if ram speed is higher than a board allows, will it lower speed or not work (x99 Deluxe with 3000 MHz ram)

Shipping sucks

AFAIK, it will lower itself to 2133 MHz straight outta the box.

Ran my G.Skill 3000MHz kit on my old X99 Deluxe fine. Make sure the BIOS is updated, XMP is enabled, and you have a kit on the QVL.

You will need to run the 1.25X strap to get the 3000MHz divider. Setting XMP should do this automatically. It might not work every time, some CPUs don't like that strap and some memory controllers are a bit weak on X99.
