Never go dual gpu if you can afford a single gpu that has the same amount of power...

To be honest I'm just being both lazy and facetious here.

Why though... Also since when does a 980Ti give the same FPS numbers as a 295x2 lol? Most powerful GPU still, the Fury X2 will take over the 295x2, lets not forget about the 390x2.

Not all games have good SLI profiles or SLI profiles at all. So instead of gambling your chances with games and upcoming game just go with the best single gpu you can afford. also heat and power consumption can be an issue.

and what 390x2?

It's entirely likely that OP wants something for perhaps 4K gaming or for straight up bragging rights.

Whilst they are not the most efficient cards on the planet in terms of heat, performance and cost, dual GPU cards are still something to behold, and it's not often that you see a dual GPU card in a rig, is it......even if there is a reason for that.

Well, it's more, what is your potential list of parts if you have one right now?

After all, no good getting something like a 390X2 when you have a Corsair CX430.

Well then Titan X, 980 TI, and the Powercolour 390x2 look like your best options

would it just be better to go ahead and run a few titans on liquid cooling?

if you need the 12GB of vram then sure, probably get away with 2 980 TIs (6GB each)

That single GPU has no where near the same amount of power. The 295X2 will consistently dominate a Titan X or 980 Ti.

True. But since money is no limit (theoretically), then you can do 4 way Titan X which is the most powerful setup theoretically, but that would have awful micro stutter. SLI usually has more micro stutter than crossfire.

Well he said graphics card, not graphics cards, so the 295X2 was sort of implied. If it were multiple cards, I'd have a few Fury X cards since the microstutter and performance scaling would be way better.

Title is "Most powerful graphics cards" lol. I don't really like these kinds of posts because they're pointless and people just repeat what most people already know. You're right. I'd actually go quadruple Fury X's and 100hz 1440p ultrawide for the best possible gaming experience you can get.
