Surround setup with different resolution monitors?

Picking up a 3rd monitor tonight (for only $10) which happens to be the exact same as the one I'm currently using as my secondary display. This means I will now have two Acer 19" 1440x900 panels on either side and an Asus 24" 1080p panel in the center. 

 

I'm going to try running a custom resolution of 4800x1080 as the difference between 1080 and 900 isn't much. I know this will "squish" the image a bit on the two side displays, but hopefully it's not too bad. 

 

If it is bad and doesn't look right, does anyone here know how to properly set it up so each display is running it's native resolution yet will still show the entire image across all 3 panels, such that the image lines up properly? I've seen pictures and posts on other forums of people who have done this, so I know it's possible. Will also check YT to see if anyone's posted videos on how set something like this up. 

 

Will probably only use this for racing games, primarily.

 

Any help/tips/suggestions would be appreciated. :)

I think the first thing you're going to want to do is go into the nVidia control panel and create a custom resolution for each of your two smaller monitors, which is the same as your center monitor. This will look meh since those monitors are not made for that resolution. I actually made a post on this very same thing myself a few months ago and the general consensus was that it was not possible. Once you change those two monitors you can adjust the resolutions of games to

XXXX x XXXX. Thats my opinion, you can go back and look at my posts if you want to see what people said there. 

 

It may not be much help but hopefully it can give you an idea or something!

Apparently I need a DP to HDMI adapter in order to hook up all 3 monitors which I can't get until tomorrow. So I wouldn't be able to try this out tonight. :( 

 

But I know the monitor does work as I did test it, so there's that. :)

Yeah, I saw someone on YT do this to get it to work. I think to keep things simple I'll just treat the two 1440x900 panels as 1440x1080 panels by setting up a custom resolution for them like you suggested. Hopefully it doesn't squish the image too much. :P

Yes, this should work. I just tested my one 1440x900 panel with a custom resolution of 1728x1080 and it actually looked totally fine. Not squished or distorted at all. :D So, that will give a total resolution of 5376x1080 across all 3 panels.

Nvidia surround fail. Forces all 3 displays down to the highest common supported resolution which means my 1080p display was forced down to 1440x900. Looked pretty bad, lol. I couldn't find any solution or fix that worked. 

 

Will just stick with gaming on a single panel (which is totally fine for me) and keep the $10 monitor as a spare. 

 

Oh well, was worth a shot. ;)
