Power supply help

hi i want to know what would happen if i put a 500w psu into a 300w machine

is it too much for it to handle or can it manage?

is the power distributed perfectly or do i need specific ones??

You can use a higher wattage PSU than what you need, the only downside is that it is less efficient.

It would work perfectly fine, the wattage of a PSU is the max. wattage that the PSU can deal with, but based on it's efficiency it can only deliver a bit less. (if your components drain less than this wattage-efficiency than its fine, 500W PSU will give your components the demanded power but have to cosume a bit extra power cause of his efficiency) 

 

But I think you should atleast inform youself a bit about PSUs befor you ask someone. Simple google search should give you enough infomations. (don't want to sound pissed or something)

Your efficiency explanation is kinda off. I'd check the Efficiency guide pinned on this subforum

A 750W will just deliver whatever amount of power is asked of it up to 750W

Ah ... OK you're right Sir, than I miss understood the labling of PSU's for years ^^
