So, I've been having quite a bit of trouble with 2 minute load times between areas recently with my laptop, (5400rpm 750gb drive) I've only used around 150gb of my drive even with the productivity work that I've had to do on it recently. I'm just pinned at 100% disk usage usually at these times. I am curious since I hit my drive with a ton of random reads and writes in the games I do play and play quite often would an SSD be a viable solution? A 240GB one would easily fit my data for 60 bucks, but since I hit it pretty hard daily doing designing and live writing to my disk due to the games I play is this even viable?

Additionally, I have a 3210m + igpu that barely handles the games I play too:/ only managing 30-45fps in my games too.

You can get an ssd if you want, and if you decide to get a new notebook you can take the ssd with you.

It will help with loading times. But your fps won't go up.

Well, I can live with the fps, but my main concern is the large amount of random writes that I'd hit that SSD with any input on that?

Doesn't matter. SSD's these days are so durable and reliable it isn't a worry anymore.

And also if it are small things it's all good. If it starts writing big things like 100+MB files all over the place constantly, all the time, it might be a worry.

But for general use, it's fine. It's stuff you should only worry about if you are planning to use it 24/7 and out of it's comfort zone like server stuff.
