Looking for the best GPU that is around $150

Well for 150$ you could go with the used route. Lets see do you live in the U.S.A or some other place?

While I, regrettably, don't have any specific recommendations at the moment, I do suggest that while searching you ensure you've checked for good-condition used cards if you're on a tight budget. This isn't to say you should always buy new, certainly not, only that so long as a used card hasn't been damaged or used extensively in hard-performing applications like bitcoin mining, it is an option to consider.

Its just for a future build that I plan on doing for a family member, some medium gaming with school work to. I also do live in the US

Thats what I was planning on theres a 750 TI for $130

The 7870 would beat the 750 ti. Hell. Used isn't always bad you know? And new isn't always good. Sometimes the previous generation is just as good.

^This. For $150 you can get a 7950, which is a monster for the price. Who knows, maybe you could even manage to find a 7970 for a bit more. That'll beat a 770.

Find yourself a nice Radeon HD 7950 or 7870. The 750Ti is alright, but for $150 you can do so, so much better than that. Seriously, the 7950 can trade blows with my 960, and my 960 is running at 1523MHz on the chip.

Oh, I should mention. The R9 280, which is basically a rebranded HD 7950 is also an option, as well as the 280X, which is the 7970. The R9 270 and 270X are the 7870 and 7870GHz Edition respectively. I think. I could be wrong!
