If i am running windows 10 education and i purchase a windows 10 home product key will it downgrade automatically??

No, most likely you need to use the cd/usb provided to reinstall windows. Back up all your data before that

You might need to reinstall windows 10 if you want to use that key not to sure, also if you want cheap keys check out /r/microswap
