Hello LTT Forums,

I was just wondering if a fx4300 with 6x2tb wd red drives(software raid 10), a quad port nic gigabit (Intel), and 4x2.5inch hard drive in a 5.25inch bay enclosure(No Raid), with a plex server running as well. Would this processor have enough power to be able to drive all of these tasks?

but how many streams are you going to want to do and at what resolution?

Are you going to back up important Data to it?

We will have a 4-6tb external usb hard drive to back up the data to, as well as a separate drive for the 2.5inch drives as well. The most will be 1 stream at 1080p but all drives will not be in constant use at all times.

Then a 4300 would be more than enough (albeit not the best choice if you're buying it new). An FX4300 should be able to handle two+ transcoded 1080p plex streams and basically as many non-transcoded streams.

I am buying one for 45$ from a friend, so they normally retail for 90 on ebay.

It will mostly have streams over the SMB on computers that are streaming media as well as files. It will only be streaming plex maybe once a week on the tv with a roku.
