I can get a xfx 290x double dissipation for 300 usd right now, I'm asking is this version of the 290x worth it ? Are xfx a reputable brand?

Yes, it's a good version of the 290x. XFX is a very good brand in GPU manufacturing and PSU making(even though most of their models are made from Seasonic).
