Yes, it'll be more than fine. HOWEVER: If you're building a small form factor PC with a tiny cooler, you might not be able to OC it that much, in which case you could save a bit of money by going with a regular i5 6600.

I would also suggest you to go with an i5 6600 or 6500 since you may not be able to OC that much. As for RAM prefer any low profile 8Gs or more because in ITX cases you don't have plenty of room. Then pick a MOBO that suits you and your needs with all the SATA you will probably use and prefer M.2 slot (it is really usefull in small cases). Also watch out that the airflow in the case is the best it can be otherwise even your MOBO can overheat :)

an i7 6700 is about the same performance as a 6600k with an OC of around 4.5ghz, sometimes even more stable fps than the i5 in certain games

the hyperthreading balances it out, and you can use the stock cooler since it doesn't output much heat (tho a third party aircooler like cryorig c7 is good for mini itx cases) and you don't need to pay much for an overclocking mobo

so they might cost cheaper if you don't include a cooler for the i7
