What is the best RAID card for a Raid 10 array? (and where do I buy it ;) )

This might sound a bit rude but if you are asking such a generic question about something fairly complicated, you shouldn't be doing it.

Raid stuff (especially if it's for networking) is very expensive, you should set yourself a goal and budget. Like how many HDDs or SSDs are you going to use, for what purpose (24/7 operation, etc)

What are your needs? How many drives do you plan to use / use in the future?

A decent RAID card like the LSI 9361-8i with the battery backup will run you about $500-700.

If you're only doing 4 drives or have enough ports on your motherboard for it, I would say to go for software RAID or a third party software solution like FlexRAID or Windows Storage spaces. Getting a RAID card for home use is severe overkill. I know because I bought a LSI 9261-8i CV several years back, and I'm sure it's still just laughing at my home use workload for it.
