Hey Guys,

This may be abit to ask but I am needing to design a computer. I posted one on here a while ago but have doubled my budget to around $2000 (AUD).

What I am wanting it to do it be easily run a 16:9 1080p monitor, but would like it to be able to run 21:9 1440p @ 60fps on ultra (Modded Skyrim, AAA Games)

The components I am wanting is a 980Ti, i7K CPU, A Motherboard with SLI suppourt, ddr4 ram and other higher end features, something like the ROG Rampage V Extreme would be good but it is abit too expensive. Other components include a >250GB SSD, 4TB WD Black and AIO cooler.

Sorry to be so specific on everything. I am hoping to future proof this as much as possible. And expandability is a must. This does not include OS and periferals. I do have one other question though, is it easy to run most games on a ultrawide without having black bars on the sides to give it a 16:9 ratio?

Thankyou!

Might be a bit tough to build that for $2k AU.

The 980Ti is like $1100 alone. That Mobo you want is $800 too....

Id suggest getting an i5 and add a 980Ti and then go basic/budget on the rest. (Get a reliable PSU though)

Hey Guys,

Generally it's much better to just buy a 4k display over an ultra wide, cheapest 21:9 1440p display is near $1000

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/aoc-monitor-u3477pqu

and the build includes a much less expensive 4K IPS free-sync display, though 27" is going to need some scaling, 32"+ would be better for productivity, but then you lose free-sync

21:9 support is probably overall lacking in games

and future proofing isn't real, aside from your case.

and I wouldn't say that given the cost of a 980 even that it'll be worth it either over a 390X, the 390 is only $50 less than the X, so might as well

and the xeon 1231v3 is basically an i7 at $100 less, if I remember right the Fury cards aren't available over there, and I wouldn't worry about going for dual GPUs either, maybe just up the RAM to 16gbs and throw in a large SSD

Just quickly did a build up, $350 over budget but that isn't too bad for me. Any changes you would make? I will add an SSD in, in maybe a few months. Maybe chuck another 980Ti in near the end of the year with Black Friday and such.

Fury cards are available.

Yes they are but for the $100ish difference id still recommend the 980Ti

If you are going for the Non-Unlocked i7. You can go for a H97 Mobo to make it slightly cheaper too. But the post I suggested before with the Xeon is a great price and is basically an i7-4770 without the iGPU (youre getting a 980ti so doesnt matter)

If that's the case, then it still a bad buy, even if it has more performance when OC'd

he shouldn't buy an ultra wide but if he's stuck on the the free-sync one is $1500

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umcx1aa001

While the G-sync one is $2000, higher refresh rates, but I'm not sure if you could just overclock the free-sync one, same panel after all
