It's a low end build and I need some help deciding on parts

I can get a used Core 2 Duo Q6600 for about 20$ USD would it be better than the x4 860k?

What about the Q9650 at around 65$ USD?

Should I pick up a different GPU, used?

This PC will be running sort of like a NAS and will have Foobar2000 running almost 100% of the time(May do ultra light gaming on it)

It will also be hooked up to various pieces of audio equipment

AMPs, DACs, Audio Receiver, Pre-AMP, USB Audio cleaner etc.

300W PSU is not enough for that system...

Go for a used GPU, much better than going low end new..

Might be worth your while looking at something like an old work-station based on sandy for the best bang for buck... Ust throw in a decent gpu (if it doesn't have one) and whatever storage you need...

Whats your budget for the whole build?

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

It should be perfectly fine.

@Marziman , wouldn't be an AMD A10-7700K or similar better suited for your job, since you won't need an external GPU?

Not if he's running a q6600 a gpu and brace of HDD's... the amd build... sure.

But still, I'd be looking for a used workstation or even old server for his use / budget.

No, it's only 180 Watts.  300W is more than sufficient.

Yeah but!  I prefer CPU's without integrated graphics.  Especially AMD because it's something I can't utilize later on if I do end up buying better components like a better GPU.

300$ and under because it's a 10 TB music archive basically.  I already own all the drives.

AFAIK, this should be enough for your needs @Marziman

What do you already have? (Storage etc.)

I COULD go cheaper on the RAM and like I said, I really don't want one with integrated graphics.  Plus the X4 860K beats that A10 in compute performance, I'm pretty sure.
