Hey everybody long time lurker here.

I am currently in the process of planning my next build but I am currently uncertain wether my PSU will be able to power it all.
The plan is to build a hardline watercooling rig with 2 seperate loops for CPU and GPU's seperated.

Let me give you a rundown of the current plans.

CPU: Intel i5 6600K
MB: ASUS Maximus VIII Formula
RAM: Corsair 16GB Dominator Platinum kit (2x 8GB)
GFX: 2x MSI GTX970 4GD5T OC (Using EKWB Waterblocks)
PSU: Corsair RM750i
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
HDD: 2x WD Red 2TB

Case: NZXT H440 Black/Orange

Now the 750W should just be enough to run the rig with stock aircooling, however im not sure whether it'll hold up running two D5 pumps for both liquid-cooling loops.
Should I play it safe and go with an 850W PSU or will the 750W be enough.

750W i enough but I'd suggest going for a cheaper motherboard and a R9 390X for better performance

Hey everybody long time lurker here

What budget, what are you using it for? Do you already have a 4k display?

as 390s would be faster cards overall and save you money on your display with the adaptive sync displays, but you should really just get one good GPU instead like a nano.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

390 CF draws 660W. 2x 390X will be around 720W

Perfectly fine, I use a 750W psu for a 4790k at 4.4GHz and 2 980s at 1350Mhz

Cool, thanks for the reply. Just checked with power consumption of de D5 pump which are rated at 12V on 2A maximum. So that isn't really all that shocking either, so I think I'm good for this build on that.

Total budget for the rig is just over 2k. Monitors will be upgraded at laters date (using 2 1680 x 1050 resolution screens now).

As for GFX card, I'm quite set on my choice now. As two GTX970 paired benchmark around the same position as a single 980Ti. Ofcourse I can get the same results using AMD cards. But my experience with AMD isn't the best and the power consumption of AMD is through the roof especially on multi-gpu builds. And I'm trying to keep my power consumption as efficient as possible.

Picked the motherboard because it's a themed build. Only other one that fits in the new Gigabyte one that just came out. GA-Z170X-SOC Force or something like that. And that is both hideous and even more expensive. Also, had nothing but issues with my current Radeon card in recent years, so I am not planning on buying AMD for now.

The R9 Nano consumes about as much power as a 980 and out performs it, with it's recent price drop it's overall about the best high end card to buy

and it's exceedingly pointless, to buy those GPUs with that display set up, one sec

includes a 4k IPS free-sync display, though you'd want a 32" or higher sized 4k display for better productivity work, here are the non X Fury cards vs the 980tis at 4k, you have to OC the 980tis to get a reasonable gain, and the nano is basically on par with the cards here. This is more so due to AMD's beter scaling with higher resolutions and overall better crossfire scaling.

Upgrade your display before your GPUs as GPU prices are always dropping, display prices not so much

I do believe he wants to overclock and with his budget he could get a 6700K or a 5820K

5820k could be an option, but at $479 vs $624

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx980ti6gd5toc

Not factoring in the cost of G-sync vs free-sync which is about at minimum $100 right now, up to $300 on the 1440p IPS 144hz displays

is paying all the extra money really worth it in the end for 10-15 more fps?
