Not really, I have a $3000 13 inch MBP for work. The budget was $3000, the 13 inch form factor makes sense for people in my line of work, and no one's going to do any serious gaming/video editing on it, but it will be used for CPU intensive computational tasks sometimes. The $3000 Mac has its place.
