Sony to "Spin-off" PlayStation as its own company

AMD doesn't have the money to go around buying companies. If they don't get their finances in order within the next 2-4 years, they are in danger of being acquired themselves.

While it is possible they might be able to come up with some cash (probably not enough), they would risk going bankrupt in the process and for what? A business with poor outlooks for profit. I could understand if we were looking at a certain cash cow but as it is, it's better to just sell chips for the Playstation meaning they get money without the risk and financial burden of keeping it afloat.

I understand the appeal as Playstation owners but it doesn't make sense for them. Right now they got the entire console market cornered and it seems like the next generation as well. That's the best scenario for AMD.

Google would be an odd fit and also makes little sense. Don't see why they would buy it. Samsung might do it to further advance and intertwine their product portfolio but I don't think they're interested.

Seems more likely that it would be merged with Daybreak, if anything.

Maybe one day they'll port some games to PC.
