Hey! I was wondering that because Intel just released the 1150 socket haswell chip. Do you think Intel with stick with haswell for the next couple genterations of cpu's or will they say screw it and go back to LGA 1155 socket. I want to hear the forums opinion because I think they might stay with socket 1150.

Thanks,

There's going to be one more generation on 1150 and then it will change. There's no way it will go back to 1155.

(That's my opinion)

I'm not actually sure on this, but I don't think they would go back. Very good question though. Intel used socket 1556 for Clarkdale and Lynnfield, kept the 1155 socket for Sandy and Ivy, and I think their keeping the 1150 socket for Haswell and this Haswell Refresh. So looking at this method, they could change it after this Haswell Refresh, but will be interesting to see what they do.

they will keep the same socket until something changes in the way the motherbaords need to be designed for the chip, thats one of the main reasons for socket changes is to prevent the usage with certain motherboards with certain cpus.
