Blue Screen

Go to solution Solved by mcammidge,

Blue screen dmp file points at the mt7612us.sys driver which is for the xbox one wireless adapter. Assuming you have one and its connected can you confirm with it disconnected the system is stable?

Hai :)

Noticing that the PC had restarted a couple of times while I was away...I was in a Blue screen scare.

My PC apparently blue screened twice yesterday while I was away, and I didn't know that till it happened now while I was watching a movie...confirming my fears :'(

From now on every time it restarts and I don't see the "updates were installed" notification, I am gonna check the Minidump folder.

I think it also blue screened 3 more times back in November.

Q&A :P

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Windows 8.1 was originally installed then upgraded to 10.

Full retail OS. Bought it from MS. Upgraded to 8.1 then to 10, but this system never had windows 8 on it. Only 8.1 then 10.

System Age: Very hard for me to determine an accurate age...When I built this system I bought 2 motherboards, and I don't remember when did I swap them (bought them together but haven't used one till I swapped it). I have also made a lot of changes to it and recently even swapped the RAM with my other PC, which is only 3 months old. But the original build was on November 2014. Though only the CPU and 1 HDD (OS installed on a new SSD) is left from that build...plus the case and CPU cooler, but those are irrelevant I guess.

OS Age: 3 months old. Reinstalled multiple times for windows upgrades and SSD changes + some other reasons, but the current OS installation is 3 months old.

CPU Model: Intel Core i7-4790k

Video Card: MSI AMD Radeon R9 390x

Motherboard: ASUS z97 PRO (Wifi-AC)

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

___

Please help if possible

Thanks ^^

The first thing that jumps out is you swapped motherboards. Windows OS is tied to a computers motherboard (MAC address if I remember correctly), so if I've read your post correctly you installed Windows onto an SSD which was originally with Motherboard 1 and then Motherboard 1 was replaced with Motherboard 2 after 3 months whilst still retaining the same SSD?

Almost everyone that I know that has done an upgrade from 8/8.1 to 10 without doing a fresh install has had issues with their 10 install, not too sure if you're in the same circumstance.

hmm...but it was going fine all this time with Motherboard 2. I have done a fresh install as soon as I upgraded (had to upgrade first to ensure activation).

Alright...I came back today to find that the PC had restarted again, and there's one more dump file. Gonna try disconnecting the wireless adapter and see what happens. Thanks :)

Alright...almost 24 hours have passed, and everything is stable. I got the xbox wireless adapter to use it though xD

yeah its fairly new product so hopefully with driver updates they'll slowly get the bugs worked out, i use one myself without bsods so may be bit of luck, hopefully the reinstall fixes :)
