i was wondering if there is a big differecnce between 80+ gold rated psu and a 80+ platinum rated psu. would i be saving alot more on my powerbill ? or should i just stick to 80+ gold rated psu to save a couple bucks.

The price to go to platinum will probably cost more than the electric bill.

It depends on how much the machine will be on. A server on 24/7 I'd go platinum, a normal 8 hour a day desktop? Gold is fine.
