Just got an 1TB WD black edition hard drive an installed it but when i go to configure it, nothing pops up?? The disk is spinning when i put my hand up to it too.

It may also need to be formated after you assign it a letter, but it should prompt you for that.

I see a lot of people posting with this issue recently.  The above answer/formatting the drive for use is likely what needs to be done, but in all my years I've never had a HDD not automatically get recognized once it's plugged in and the PC is freshly booted.  On IDE maybe, but never from sATA.

I know that on the most recent insider build of windows 10 I currently need to manually assign my USB external disks a drive letter for them too show up in explorer the first time that they are plugged into the system, it's quite the hassle. Its odd because it doesn't happen with flash drives.

What version of windows are you on?

Ok, press the windows key and R at the same time and type in diskmgmt.msc and hit run. This will open disk management, from there you should see your new drive there with out a name or letter assigned too it. Right clock that drive and click "Assign Drive letter" a moment later you should get a popup asking to format the drive.
