So the link below is my current build i plan on working on.

My question is as the title says PCIe vs the m.2. One or the other will be my main storage for the OS and all the games and main programs i will use. I do remember seeing in some videos that there was a way to hook up your m.2 into a PCIe and putting in on the MOBO that way. Will the m.2 on the PCIe adapter card read/write if not as fast as a PCIe but close or close enough?

Theyre essentially the same thing m.2 uses pci-e lanes to communicate with the system. Just make sure whatever drive and motherboard you get support the newer Nvme protocol.

this is the MOBO i'll be using along witht the CPU.

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($374.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Motherboard: Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($238.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Yup your motherboard supports Nvme, I think it may need a bios update when you get it. You should be fine :)

So if the m.2 uses same PCIe lanes to communicate how much of a difference will there be in the read/write speeds? I mean i know there is a spot on the MOBO for the m.2 and there is also that adapter you can put your m.2 into a PCIe adapter and plug it that way. Just wondering how much of a difference is there and if its needed at all? I was at first getting the INtel 750 400GB PCIe at first. but im still in doubt on wh ich main storage i should get first.

There is no need for an adapter card.  The M.2 on that board is PCIe 3.0 x4 so it will give you top performance with the 950 Pro.

So all that is left for me to decide is the storage. I really like the Intel 750 series PCIe if i go this route probably getting the 400GB one where i'll have the OS/Games/ Most used Apps then i'll just add a 2nd SSD storage to store everything else files/videos/music/projects etc etc. If not the Intel PCIe then i would go with the m.2 route and have 2nd SSD for storage and the m.2 would be the same thing where i put the OS/games/most apps used etc etc..but i've yet to decide on what route to go with.
