How do I move the Ubuntu side bar?

Cant, thats Unity for you, if you want somehing different install something like cinnamon desktop with: sudo apt-get install cinnamon-desktop-environment

 

The same desktop environment  that i am using and it is awesome, i also uninstalled Unity and it does improve the boot times of my laptop.

There's also Gnome & KDE desktops, both are really good and better than Unity.
