So I have made a while ago to windows 10 and there is something that has really bothered me so far: when I use the shut-down in the windows menu, the green light of my motherboard as well as of my keyboard and mouse stay on. (I have S5-S4 enabled in my BIOS and Asus AI charger is off)

At some point because I am very lazy, I decided to create a short-cut that would power off the pc, so I used this path: "%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0".

After using this button I noticed that my PC would completely shut-down and no lights would stay on! Victory!

Now, does anybody know how I could relink the shut-down button in my windows menu so that it uses the same path as my short-cut?

why did you enable s5/s4? do you really need it? that could be it, also check if your usb ports are delivering power while pc is off, youll find the settings in bios. (doesnt matter that AI charger is off)

As for the s4/s5, yes I do need it to save power. (even though I am not sure it really does anything)  And I tried to disable and later to put it on S5 and no result whatsoever. Only the home-made power button helps. And yes sadly if  I switch off the PC with the conventional power button in windows menu, my USB ports still deliver power.

s4/s5 being enabled does not save power. itll wait for keyboard/mouse input even if your pc is off. disable it. also check your bios usb settings, im pretty sure its set to deliver power while its off

@Skydiver Hang on, your really worried about the 1$ per year it'll cost you to have you mouse and kb LED stay on?

Also S states are advanced CPU power states, they do nothing while the machine is powered off. S3/S4 are used for advanced wakeup features during sleep so unless you are sleeping you machine having S3/S4 enabled will have zero affect on anything.

Thanks I will check this out, what this still puzzles that the home-made short-cut solved the problem though xD.

Nope I am worried by the lack of sleep I get when my room is all lit in blue and green thanks to those awesome LEDs.

Fair enough then :)
