Friend and I were talking about SLI.

Would there be any performance gains in GPU rendering by going with an SLI configuration? I only typically see 15-20% card utilization on single card gpu rendering so I dont know that SLI for this kind of rendering would give any benefit. I could be wrong.

Both run single cards atm one on 980ti and other on 970

Probably not unless you have some insane rendering to do

CUDA and GPU acceleration only comes into play with After Effects IF the effects that AE need to render support GPU acceleration.

This is why you don't see a lot of GPU usage compared to the CPU when rendering Premiere Pro, After Effects projects.  Add a ton of GPU accelerated effects onto your Premiere Pro or After Effects sequences, and you'll see the GPU utilization go up.
