problem with evga precisionx

Go to solution Solved by 0x1e,

hi

i was trying to overclock my 970 when i went over the limit a bit and then the computer crashed. i rebooted and tried to set to defaults but the computer crashes whenever i open precisionx. how do i reset it? can i just delete presisionx? i have it through steam.

thanks in advance!

Uninstall and reinstall.

Next time don't tick "apply overclock on windows start up, or program start up". You should only do that once you're completely sure it's 100% stable.

You shouldn't have any problems deleting it. My guess would be that it's crashing because the second you open it, it is setting the overclock which then crashes you. Might want to use something like Afterburner instead, and make sure everything is set back to default before you try again.

It's not a race to the bottom.

You should be able to just delete the config file, which should be in your %APPDATA% folder
