Laptop Screen Flickering

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Managed to put my laptop back together after another try, turns out there was a cable/ribbon that wasn't plugged in. I seem to have fixed the screen issue as well. Must have just been a loose wire. Anyways, all fixed and saved about $75!

Hi, so in the picture I have provided I have recently been getting these grey lines constantly flickering across my screen. Just wondering, what is this? Is something loose? Should I take it to computer repair? Are the graphics going bad? I feel like it's something simple to do with the hinge connecting the screen to the base, but I could be wrong.

No, I don't touch any of those settings, this just recently just started happening

check it and try to check if its right also if not thats the issue than if you have intel laptop than do into yoour HD graphics manager and try to play arround if you mess it up dont worry its possible to reset so it just needs time and just play with it and hope

go to resolution click advanced and make sure it's running at 60Hz instead of 42 or something like that

it's at 60hz, I feel like it's a hardware issue

do the lines move?

could you get a video of it? it's hard to tell from the still image

if you still have warranty on that stuff then hand it in for service immediately

The camera is having trouble keeping up with how fast it's flickering but here is another picture

it's still hard to tell if I'm seeing it right but that looks like it might be GPU artefacting

would have an external monitor or TV by any chance? can you try plugging laptot there and see if it artefacts there as well?

does it remind you anything like these?maxresdefault.jpg

nah warranty expired long ago

why do I have a feeling that when I ask multiple questions in one post you answer only the first one?

I'll hook up to a spare monitor, are you saying I should see the results on both then if it's the graphics?

tested - hooked up to spare monitor and it was only showing the flickering on the laptop, the spare monitor was fine

might be a bad connection

how confident are you in taking that laptop apart?

look for the display connection and make sure it's connected properly - take it out rub it off and plug it back in

I don't think it's the GPU if it shows up fine for a spare monitor, I'm going to see if I can mange to look at the hinge by taking it apart

umm yeah, that's what I was reffering to the display connection that's inside your laptop it should be reachable on the motherboard by just taking off the bottom cover

maybe under the keyboard, you could google your laptop model with "tear down" keywords
