You can overclock without added voltage, just might not make a big difference. Always go for core clock first.

 

If you don't think you have enough power to support overclocking, do not attempt it. It is riskier and does not really affect the gaming too much.

Your computer is going to black screen before you destroy anything, and the card can't pull anymore juice through the rails than what's available to it so you will just hit a wall.

 

If you can't afford to break things than you probably shouldn't try it, but that never stopped me!
