So, this is a strange error i get, basically in BIOS i can see the HDD, can look at the info of it etc. but when i want to start up, it goes to a screen and says ''no hard drive detected'' and then proceeds to the windows installation, where the HDD is not detected at all, so i can't install windows. The HDD is spinning and all, so idk what it could be. The PCB? The heads on the hard drive?

which windows are you installing? Also check your storage settings in the bios. Which hard drive is it?

Did this error just happen out of nowhere or is it a new build?

Try changing the mode your HDD is running in(AHCI, IDE, etc) within your BIOS.

I've ran into this issue before, unfortunately for me two out of the three times the hard drive was done for.  The other time I removed the PCB and cleaned the side that you can't see and the HDD started working fine.

My advice would be to get one of those USB to sATA (assuming the drive is sATA) adapters and see if you can access the hard drive from your OS when the HDD is plugged into USB.  If so go ahead and back the drive up and then continue troubleshooting,

Check your boot priority, make sure the disk with your OS is set to boot first. Remove any USB drives that the PC might be trying to boot to.

Are you trying to install Windows to a HDD?
