Travel/exploration can be tricky for an MMO -- in Star Citizen, or EvE, etc., it needs to be potentially short enough that an individual with only an hour or so of game time available in a day can gain satisfaction and enjoyment; whereas someone in an 5-6 hour marathon session can also get lost in the expanse if they wish.

From what I understand, exploration in star citizen is not going to happen in Interstellar space.  The star systems will be what we explore, asteroid fields, comets, moons, space stations etc.  And new systems will be discovered via jump points within existing systems.  This makes a lot of sense to me based on the speeds of travel and scale of the systems as planned.  Think Firefly not Star Trek... only there are wormholes connecting dozens of systems.

yeah - and I like the notion of exploring within wormholes as hinted at by past developer discussions - the idea that the wormhole itself may have structural bounds to review/impact -- assuming to help future navigations done easier and with less risk.
