Under $150 rendering box?

So Linus recently did the $150 intel 8 core cpu gaming machine (

), but my question is, couldn't that be used as an ultra cheap rendering machine for transcoding video with 8 CPU cores? then if you just used the onboard video with a cheap VGA monitor, couldn't that free up your main machine to do other stuff.
