Normal CPU core voltage?

What options or settings in the BIOS should I adjust to test this? I am not very experienced with tweaking voltage settings on my CPU.

The image you posted above pretty much confirms my theory - you don't need to increase your voltage, you need to let the chip know that it's allowed to run faster than 800 MHz.  As soon as it tries to do so, it will ask for (and get) more voltage automatically.

 

First, could you check your power options and make sure it's like below (except they should both be "active")

If that doesn't work we'll go looking in the BIOS :)

In the past few days, I have noticed my computer has been running more sluggishly than usual. In games like CSGO, where I used to get 300+ frames, it has dropped to about 60. While watching videos or browsing the internet, I have experienced slight hiccups and freezes. I suspect my PSU -- a Rosewill 750 watt -- is the culprit. Before I try to replace it, however, I need your advice. How can I make sure its the PSU that is faulty, and not some other component? I downloaded CPU-Z and noticed my core voltage is quite low, never exceeding .768 V while under the stress test. Is this normal? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Don't hesitate to ask for more information.

i5 4670k

GTX 960 

MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Rosewill 750 watt gold +

That would indicate your CPU is not increasing its frequency when it should, since that is the idle voltage.  I don't believe it's a PSU issue at all.

 

Can you check Power Options and make sure it's allowed to clock up properly?

 

You may also have to adjust C-state options in the BIOS

Set the voltage in the BIOS to manual but still keep the intel voltage control thing that makes it so it doesn't always run at 1.3v

That would indicate your CPU is not increasing its frequency when it should, since that is the idle voltage.  I don't believe it's a PSU issue at all.

 

Can you check Power Options and make sure it's allowed to clock up properly?

 

You may also have to adjust C-state options in the BIOS

 

What options or settings in the BIOS should I adjust to test this? I am not very experienced with tweaking voltage settings on my CPU.

The image you posted above pretty much confirms my theory - you don't need to increase your voltage, you need to let the chip know that it's allowed to run faster than 800 MHz.  As soon as it tries to do so, it will ask for (and get) more voltage automatically.

 

First, could you check your power options and make sure it's like below (except they should both be "active")

I checked my options, and it seemed the maximum processor state was set to 5%! I'm not sure how that happened, but upon setting it back to 100% I seem to have recovered normal computer functon. Thanks a bunch for your help! I'll know to come back to these forums for any future troubleshooting :)
