So I'm in the process of making my "first computer" I had purchased a friends pc about a year ago, but decided to upgrade while I'm moving.

Anyway, it went smoothly for a novice builder. I got it to post, I'm at the desktop (I used the HDD and SSD from the other PC) but now I have a few problems that make one huge problem.

First I need to update my drivers that's fine, but because of that:

  • None of the USB ports work on the new motherboard, or on the case, they work in the bios, but I've tried turning them on and off in the bios, checked online, and none of those fixes worked. The PS2 port works, so far an old beige keyboard is the way I can interact with my brand new rig.

  • My cd drive also doesn't work, it worked in the other computer, but it doesn't work now.

  • Connecting directly to the modem also doesn't work, so I can't get updates off the internet.

Basically my brand computer can't connect to anything, and the mouse doesn't work.

plug the drive into a usb adapter..then plug it into your other pcs..then download the needed drivers to your desktop on that hdd

I had to do this recently with a newer skylake build

another option..boot up a linux live cd...and download the drivers you need to the hdd from the live cd..it should have the needed drivers to connect you to the net

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

just msg me on my profile

Try using USB 2.0 ports instead.
