Horizontal vs vertical cooler mounting

This article made by Hardware Secrets popped to my eyes from rss feed today. They have tested difference between vertical and horizontal cooler mounting. I'm bit surprised from results but not much. The testing is left bit short. I would have liked to know if having fan in push or pull in all configurations have any significant effect. And why not test all possibilities at once.

Put a longer graphics card in there and use some exhaust fans.

 

Front to back is almost always optimal.

 

My cooler is now bottom-top sided with fan pushin from bottom. I might test it other way someday but its cooling pretty good now.

My cooler doesn't even fit that way up and if it could the fan would be pretty much flat against a 670 so it wouldn't get as much air through.

Hmmmm......never really occurred to me

 

that you could get better cooling performance.

 

Actually, It sounds a little silly.

 

Noctua NF-F12's in Pull + vertical or horizontal Cooler Mounting = No significant difference........if at all.
