I'm wanting to upgrade my system and I want to be able to get triple 1080p monitors in the near future. What would be the cheapest/best value for money graphics card configuration I could do?

1920 x 1080p = 2073600 pixels to be rendered.

3x (1920x1080) = 6220800 pixels to be rendered

3840x2160 (4K)= 8294400 pixels to be rendered.

 

So to answer your question:

- Nope in terms of pure pixels to be rendered 3x 1080p would require less processing power.

 

A friend of mine is running 3x Asus VG248QE's and his reference 280 isn't quite cut out to do triple 1080p 144hz monitors.

 

Scaling that down to answer your question, assuming you are on about 60hz monitors in a triple setup something upwards of a 380 would be ideal, if you want to play around with the graphics settings a bit more a 390 would be the sweet spot in my opinion.

Get AMD for this, their cards have higher Vram which could help in games. As suggested above, 380, 380x and 390 seem good. No point getting GTX 960, 380 is just better

Productivity? Just about any modern card. Gaming? 390.

1 Powerful GPU is generally better than 2 Less powerful ones, in terms of power consumption and the drawbacks that come with running crossfire. Also 2x 380 costs more than 1x390 if that helps. So probably best to settle for the one 390.
