So guys, which brand will you get more bang for your buck with? I'm currently have the AMD FX-8350 clocked to 4.7 with a Corsair H75 and I'm gonna buy a GTX 970 4GB but my mate reckons it'll bottleneck, so I've got 2 questions;

1. Will the FX-8350 bottleneck the GPU?

2. Which brand gives you more bang for your buck (CPU and MOBO)

It might bottleneck but not severely. I highly advise an R9 390 as it offers slightly better (or the same or slightly worse) performance and has double the amount of VRAM. It usually can be found for cheaper (Rebates FTW!)

Well what budget, what country, what are you using your PC for?

OC'd that high it's not going to bottleneck much, just in very CPU heavy titles

and ya, the 390 is a fair bit better overall more so for higher resolutions, and it has potentially better DX12/Vulkan support, what's your power supply?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Overclocked to that level, it won't bottleneck too severely, so you should be totally fine.

I would say go with a 390. it's priced around the same as or lower than the 970 and has a bit more performance. Not to mention it will utterly destroy the 970 later with new APIs.

Yeah 390 is better. As well, gtx 970 has been out a while so it is pretty well optimized, but 390 was released a year later so future driver updates may eventually make it have highly superior performance to the 970. As well, AMD cards seem to work better with DX 12 (from what I have seen) but I'm not a hundred percent sure.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

It's already a decent amount faster when it goes to 1440p and 4K
