MSI Z97 Krait Edition.

 

Too cheap and has issues with QC.

Nope have one myself.

 

QC issues don't apply to every MOBO. An occasional bad apple Krait will slip by with broken RAM slots and PCIe lane issues.

Get the Z97 Krait by MSI.

The krait over the SOC? i thought that the SOC was one of the best boards

It doesn't, but the risk is pretty high on Krait boards for the Z97 chipset. He can go with it if he buys from a reputable retailer like Newegg or Amazon.
