Windows 7 freezing and not loading

Go to solution Solved by CAKEwasTRUE,

Would the driver signature error only happen after windows updates? I only ask because I restarted my computer yesterday after installing each driver and it was fine. After installing roughly the top 20-30 important windows updates and restarting it froze again.

Try reinstalling all the drivers after the update if that dosent work try to do a system restore to the time before you installed the updates.

I recently installed my new power supply ( Seasonic 1000w Platinum) and after finishing wiring the computer up windows wouldn't boot. I fixed that problem by re installing windows. My problem is that now windows freezes up before even getting to the home screen. I can enter my password, but it is currently freezing on the welcome screen. Earlier tonight I could get to the home screen and then about 5 sec later it would freeze. Computer runs fine in safe mode. The problem started after I restarted after installing all my old programs back onto the pc. I think it could be the 13.8 beta drivers but I'm not sure. Any suggestion welcome.

ok, so now this is confusing me.

Before I re installed windows i figured I would read through a couple more of the topics and there was one about win  freezing with a tp link wifi card. So i pulled my card and tried turning on my computer again and wouldn't you know it it worked fine. The only confusing thing was that I put the wifi card back in just to make sure that was the problem and it still worked fine. The only thing I changed from yesterday was that i had taken the ssd out and powered it on in an external disk reader since I was going to delete catalyst control, but didn't get around to it.

not really sure what was causing the problem, but as of now it is working, I haven't tried anything too recourse intense yet, but I can later tonight.

edit: after I installed windows updates I restarted and it got hung up on shutting down, force powered off and now its doing the same as before.

I unplugged the cd drive and the hdd and it managed to get to the desktop before freezing. full sytem wipe here i come

One or more of your drivers for something is not signed and messing up your pc on boot

I had the same problem when i installed my old sound card from 2008 on windows 7 the drivers were old and outdated. the signatures weren't cooperating with windows and every time i logged in it froze my screen

Just look up driver signature errors for your hardware

Try reinstalling all the drivers after the update if that dosent work try to do a system restore to the time before you installed the updates.

So far I uninstalled catalyst, core temp, msi afterburner, and the etron usb 3.0 driver. After doing that I was able to run fine and install all the updates. I had to boot in safe mode in order to uninstall some programs ( core temp, msi, and origin) after which windows seems to be running fine.

This afternoon I will reinstall video drivers, and origin. I might not install usb 3.0 as that could be causing it and just see how it goes. If it freezes up again I made a restore point that I can always go back to.

I think the problem might have been core temp, since I installed it and it froze. Uninstalled core temp and the freezing went away. The only funny thing is that I had core temp installed before I had to re install windows and it worked fine, oh well.
