i oc my i5 and GTX 980 on a cx750m so

voltage spikes cause by the lack-luster VRMs of the CX series has been know (I have seen this first hand) to kill component/entire system without warning.  Unusually high current draw has been know to exemplify this

CXM>CX but neither should used for overclocking. Don't be surprised if you reach the power limit (750W) and it kills something.

No, they're made by Channel Well Technology

We are talking resellers, not OEMs.

CX and CXM are different OEMs though.

Corsair doesn't actually manufacture power supplies. The OEMs between the 600W and 750W might be different though.

Corsair design/modify and create design specification that the PSUs have to adhere to, but they outsource all their manufacturing. There are a number of different manufacturers that produce Corsair PSUs, and I believe there are different manufacturers between the CX lines based on the wattage.
