Hello! I'm looking for an elegant way to to my fill and drain ports for my new build. I found this: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-af-fillport-g1-4-black-nickel and it mentions being designed for panel mounting...however, I can't seem to find compatible panels. I'd really like a 2.5" bay cover panel or something similar so that I could run a fill line from there to the res. Suggestions? I'd much rather not have to pull the res out of the case to fill. I could use a funnel+tube, but I'm looking for a more elegant/clean way to do so. Thanks!

Those you modify or find a spot on the case ideally the top where you drill a hole of the correct size to fit the fill port and use the screw washer to tighten into place. The tube will then run between this and a fill port on the res.

Ah, I figured as much. I'm using the 750D so I just would need to find the G1/4 bit to make the proper holes. Thanks mate!

From the diagram you would drill a hole approx 25.40mm to fit the fill port in so that the edge or lip holds onto the case and the screw ring locks it in place. The threading of the fillport for the tube below is just the standard G1/4 so regular fittings will work for that.

Thanks for that drawing. Couldn't I also use a 1/4" BSP 19 TPI tap and a 11.8mm drill bit?

Out of curiosity, for setting on of the ports as a drain, what would I need (on the outside of the port) to accomplish this?

The actual fill port itself is exactly 1inch in size under the lip so it needs a 1inch hole to pass through the panel or case material, this isn't the standard G1/4 sized pipe thread since the physical plug is larger than that to allow for the lower G1/4 threaded section for a fitting of your choice. You don't thread the hole your making into the case, the screw down lock ring does that job to hold it into place.

As for a drain ideally having a valve and T fitting that taps off the lowest section of the loop is ideal for draining a loop. You can make it so that the drain valve sits inside the case and just needs a short length of tube added when draining the loop or pipe it so it leads out of the case.

Ah so just a 25.4mm hold then screw the fill port on and attach the EK-ACF fitting behind it nice. Since I haven't used these ports before, what mechanism is used to keep them 'off' when not being used? That is what keeps them from leaking?

The G3/8" plug that caps off the fill port has an o-ring on it that seals the loop so nothing can get in or out.

This is my full build: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HWTNc08KFOq0x8Ib0fhqFlYBzVuzKZjwvU8c5i2BrmA/edit?usp=sharing

Can you spot anything I missed? This includes all loop parts, the PC Partpicker list for the base build, etc. Thanks! I spotted the G3/8 Plug mention.

All that looks good personally I would use a valve like this for the drain and cap it off until required when doing loop maintence.

That's not a bad idea really, with that I could choose my drain point and just put a G1/4 female on either side of it *ponders*. As an alternative, what is your opinion on drilling a drain tap in the back bottom of the case?

The rear drain tap could work just as is but with a valve it doesn't keep that portion of the line filled possibly with stagnate fluid. As for funnel I've seen G1/4 ones but not sure about G3/8 one though, you can use a regular funnel that has a small enough point. or large syringe to fill which is always nice.

Sweet. I'll probably stay in touch with you and another guy who gave solid opinions through the build (he helped me nail down the base build, and you're opinions have helped a lot with me mentally nailing down the loop setup). Probably won't physically build until next month, but I'm really looking forward to it!

Okay so I've completely nailed down my entire build except for ONE piece that I just can't seem to find. Here is a link to the build in it's entirety: Democaliber's Build

I believe I have everything I'll need for the external port and fill as well, including the threaded funnel setup. The only thing I'm still trying to determine is where, precisely I can drill the fill port. Note that with a quad rad in the top, having it in the top of the case might be extremely difficult. If you don't mind, please take a gander and let me know if there is anything I missed. Also, what do you think the best/safest method is for drilling the 1" hole you mentioned. I have a Black and Decker drill so I'd assume there would be a drill bit I could use. I assume something like...this: Drill Bit

Thanks a ton!

That all looks to be good, one thing to note if your planning on using QDC for the loop you could consider using those as the drain also and not require a valve drain. It would work if you get an extra set of QDC and some extra length of tube to connect to the loop and drain into a bucket. And yes that would be a good drill bit to use for drilling the drain port

I like the idea of being able to screw on a hose with the funnel to the drain port that i'll have near the bottom of the loop by the bottom quad rad. The extra expense to have a swivel drain setup is rather minimal. On a side note, the QDC I am mainly doing for easy of upgradeability. In all honesty the main place I think I'm going to put one is around the video card in case I end up going SLI. The other set I planned on putting with the pump/res...that way if the pump goes out, All I need to do is remove the pump/res and replace...at the end of the day, the only time I'd need to drain is to upgrade or service a part.

Any thoughts, based on the Phanteks Primo of where I could locate the fill port?

Ok I'll leave you to the drain but overall everything is good for the list, one thing I did notice is you had a (x8) for fittings with the two rads, which would only need two each or (x4). As for where to put the fill port the case is pretty big and spacious so say up top on the front edge, I do notice one thing is it has a plastic panel ontop of the case so you will need to drill through the plastic top install the fill port there and then located below and drill through the metal case for the fill port tube.  Just be sure to map this out so your fillport tube isn't in the way of something inside the case.

Each rad has 4x G1/4 ports. Thanks for all the extra information! ^_^
